金融工程（Financial Engineering）是一門結(jié)合了金融理論、工程原理、數(shù)學(xué)工具和程序?qū)嵺`建立的一種金融模型，并進(jìn)而計(jì)算金融收益與風(fēng)險(xiǎn)的一門交叉學(xué)科。因此，不同大學(xué)開設(shè)的專業(yè)有不同稱謂：數(shù)學(xué)金融、計(jì)算金融等。在現(xiàn)代金融實(shí)踐中有重要的作用。從事金融計(jì)算和管控風(fēng)險(xiǎn)的專業(yè)人員稱為數(shù)量分析師（Quantitative Analyst，或簡稱Quant）。
金融工程不屬于工程學(xué)傳統(tǒng)領(lǐng)域，美國工程與技術(shù)評估委員會(huì)（ABET）并不認(rèn)可金融工程學(xué)位。該學(xué)位受國際金融工程師協(xié)會(huì)The International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE) 的認(rèn)可。*(1)
金融工程是一門交叉學(xué)科，通常由大學(xué)的商學(xué)院、數(shù)學(xué)系和工程學(xué)院聯(lián)合授課，其課程由于集中于金融領(lǐng)域，所以深度遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超過MBA金融方面的課程，通常包括股票市場分析、投資組合分析、期貨和期權(quán)、資產(chǎn)定價(jià)、資本預(yù)算、固定收益分析、利率模型、金融風(fēng)險(xiǎn)管理等課程。
就業(yè)展望
金融工程碩士的學(xué)習(xí)時(shí)間一般為全日制1年，同MBA一樣，是一種職業(yè)教育（Professional Education）而非學(xué)術(shù)研究教育（Academic Research Education），因此無需撰寫碩士論文。其全部課程均圍繞金融學(xué)的應(yīng)用展開，具有實(shí)用性很強(qiáng)的特點(diǎn)，最適合那些立志于從事金融工作的年輕人。在美國，持有金融工程碩士學(xué)位的人才在市場上炙手可熱，基本上全部被各大投資銀行、基金管理公司、保險(xiǎn)公司、風(fēng)險(xiǎn)投資公司所聘用——
