（1）優(yōu)秀級專業(yè)比例（Proportion of excellence）：，This percentage represents the number of four and five scores divided by the number of fields that show research activity. Five scores are given a weighting。四星及五星專業(yè)加權(quán)百分比，公式：優(yōu)秀專業(yè)數(shù)/專業(yè)總數(shù)
（2）優(yōu)秀專業(yè)數(shù)（Strength）：The number of four and five scores. A score of four means "above world standard" while a score of five means "well above world standard"。也即四星專業(yè)和五星專業(yè)的加權(quán)總數(shù)。
（3）弱勢專業(yè)數(shù)（Weakness）：The number of one and two scores. A score of two means "below world standard" and a score of one means "well below world standard".也即一星和二星專業(yè)的加權(quán)總數(shù)。
（4）專業(yè)總數(shù)（Breadth）：The number of fields showing research activity (maximum 22). In some fields of research, a given university may not have enough output to be assessed。該大學(xué)開設(shè)的專業(yè)領(lǐng)域總數(shù)。
注：澳洲杰出研究計劃（Excellence in Research for Australia, ERA），是澳洲第一個由聯(lián)邦政府主導(dǎo)的官方大學(xué)排行榜。負責(zé)這項計劃的是澳洲研究理事會（Australian Research Council）。
該排名每兩年發(fā)布一次，上一次發(fā)布時間是2012年，預(yù)計下一次在2014年發(fā)布。該排名旨在找出澳洲大學(xué)的科學(xué)研究水平與世界平均水平之間的差距。
該排名總共劃分22個專業(yè)領(lǐng)域，每個專業(yè)領(lǐng)域都按5分制進行評分。其中4分和5分表示高于世界平均水平，3分表示與世界平均水平不相上下，1分和2分都低于世界平均水平。最后再根據(jù)專業(yè)排名表現(xiàn)，得出總分。（或?qū)?分、5分等稱為四星或五星）
問題1：優(yōu)秀專業(yè)數(shù)和弱勢專業(yè)數(shù)為什么不是整數(shù)？
答：因為這里計算時考慮了4分和5分、或1分與2分的權(quán)重差異。計算優(yōu)秀專業(yè)時，5分權(quán)重記為100%，4分權(quán)重則為80%，3分以下權(quán)重為0%。計算弱勢專業(yè)時，1分權(quán)重記為100%，2分權(quán)重記為80%，3分以上權(quán)重為0%。
問題2：為什么并列排名只計算一次排名，如阿德雷德大學(xué)理應(yīng)排名第8，這里為什么是第7？
答：這是澳洲研究理事會的習(xí)慣。
