生物化學(xué)（biochemistry，或作biological chemistry）是研究生物體中的化學(xué)進(jìn)程的一門學(xué)科，它主要用于研究細(xì)胞內(nèi)各組分，如蛋白質(zhì)、糖類、脂類、核酸等生物大分子的結(jié)構(gòu)和功能。
在生物化學(xué)研究中，對(duì)細(xì)胞代謝和內(nèi)分泌系統(tǒng)的研究進(jìn)行得相當(dāng)深入。生物化學(xué)的其他研究領(lǐng)域包括遺傳密碼（DNA和RNA）、 蛋白質(zhì)生物合成、跨膜運(yùn)輸（Membrantransport）以及細(xì)胞信號(hào)轉(zhuǎn)導(dǎo)。*(1)
與化學(xué)生物學(xué)的區(qū)別
生物化學(xué)側(cè)重于研究重要生物分子的化學(xué)性質(zhì)，特別著重于酶促反應(yīng)的化學(xué)機(jī)理。而對(duì)于化學(xué)生物學(xué)來(lái)說(shuō)，則著重于利用化學(xué)合成中的方法來(lái)解答生物化學(xué)所發(fā)現(xiàn)的相關(guān)問(wèn)題。
