建筑學(xué)（Architecture）是一門與建筑物設(shè)計和建造相關(guān)的藝術(shù)和技術(shù)的綜合學(xué)科，橫跨工程技術(shù)和人文藝術(shù)兩大領(lǐng)域。建筑學(xué)所涉及的建筑藝術(shù)和建筑技術(shù)、以及作為實(shí)用藝術(shù)的建筑藝術(shù)從而包括的實(shí)用、功能的一面和藝術(shù)、美學(xué)的一面，它們之間雖有明確的不同但又密切聯(lián)系，并且其份量隨具體情況和建筑物的不同而大不相同。*(1)
從狹義上說，研究的是建筑物可資使用的空間、可供欣賞的形象，以及圍繞空間、形象如何產(chǎn)生確立、調(diào)整美化等的一系列問題。事實(shí)上，作為專用詞的“建筑學(xué)”所研究的對象不僅是建筑物本身，更主要的是研究人們對建筑物的要求及其如何得以滿足，研究建筑物實(shí)體從無到有的產(chǎn)生過程中相應(yīng)的策劃、設(shè)計、實(shí)施等。*(1)
建筑學(xué)一般可以延伸至景觀設(shè)計、城市規(guī)劃與設(shè)計、古跡保護(hù)、建筑管理等專業(yè)領(lǐng)域。建筑學(xué)專業(yè)申請時一般要求學(xué)生遞交個人作品。
